Ouzos History

Be a part of our family tradition!

When the inspiration came to open another restaurant, the owners of Coney Island, William and Katherine Adams, set out to design a cozy and comfortable place where guests could feel at home and enjoy wonderful Mediterranean food. Located in the old Reed Hotel building, which is owned by the Adams family, Bill and Katherine wanted to stay true to the early 1900s architecture. From the meticulously restored tin ceiling to the original maple hardwood floors and custom built, quarter sawn oak back-bar, Ouzos provides a relaxing ambiance with a classic flair that makes you feel like you are visiting a traditional European pub.

The beauty of the project was the collaboration of the entire family in bringing their idea to life. After all, it is a family business and they want their guests to feel like family as well! Bill and Katherine's daughter Evelyn headed the design and layout of the room using historical archives and inspiration from the beautiful architecture of Kalamazoo. Their sons Steve and Michael worked on menu concept with a focus on the highest quality, hand selected ingredients. Finally, their son Frank brought in an exceptional beer, wine, and spirits list to polish off the true European pub experience. So come on in and join us. Sit back, unwind, and experience the evening—European style!
